Suggestion: new icon for old revived threads

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Sometimes I pull up an interesting sounding topic to discover (after reading half way through it, usually) that I'm reading a thread started months and months ago, recently resurrected by a new post to the end of it.

Would it be possible to mark threads whose start date is older than (say, for example) two weeks, with either a different colored envelope, or maybe a little 'cobwebs' overlay icon the way the lock icon is done?

Harder said then done I am sorry to say. Though interesting.

Perhaps just having the post date in bright red if it is older than 2 months? That way it might at least catch the eye.

Or maybe an autolock for threads that haven't been posted in for a certain time (I remember with the old UBB software old threads were in an archive that were searchable and readable but not postable).

So why isn't it done already? :D

Just to bring this one back alive :)
Other forums bring up a warning message that says "Warning: Old thread! Perhaps you want to start a new one."

Can that be done?

Not without hacking the code and I do not have time right now to look into it.

I like finding out about old cool threads and seeing how some things have change and how others have stayed the same.

THIS old thread makes it sound like technical solutions for this are hard to implement.

Maybe there should be some clear written guidelines about when its ok to revive a thread and when its not cool.

I've seen boards where its cool to resurrect technical threads to build a database of knowledge but social threads are capped at a certain length.
