Boy, was this a disappointment! The show as a whole has been kinda "eh" for me; it's well-made and usually well-written, but being too relentlessly bleak and without well-drawn characters, there's really nothing to draw me in. But this episode stunned me with its stupidity! At first, I thought, "Oh, no, not the old convict on death row and accomplices on the outside conspire to trick the cop who put him away into getting him pardoned routine!" After all, it's only been done about, oh, 800-900 times. But then, when the witness protection guy showed up, I thought the real twist was going to be that the death row guy really was innocent, and that the feds knew about it all along, but didn't say anything because it would have screwed up their case. Now, that could have been interesting.

But NOOOO! It's the old convict on death row and accomplices on the outside conspire to trick the cop who put him away into getting him pardoned routine! For, oh, the 800-901st time.

Well, I guess the good news is, I can blow off one more season pass. But it's sad to see that one of the old-time greats (Michael Mann) has completely lost his touch.
