Did anyone else watch this last night on HBO. Pretty interesting as I have never really known how those places work. But was anyone else surprised and how outrageous the prices were. I just couldn't beleive people would pay that kind of money.

Haps,
Please tell me that was not you with your mom!! :D

I think Mom knew a little too much about her son, if you know what I mean. :)

Tivo'd it. But didn't get a chance to watch it yet.
What prices you all talking? I saw 5 seconds about some guy trying to charge 15,000 on his credit card. I think.
All good..

$1000-$1500/hr seems outrageous to me. But I've never priced these things before but I guess I was under the impression that it would be much cheaper.

Well when I was 18 I drove out that with some friends. (Vegas badlands) My one friend went in with a fake ID and said he talked to a Ex-Penthouse centerfold (She had that picture on the wall) and he bargained a quickie for $100. Then he told her all he had was $60 and she asked him if it was going to be a REAL quickie. He said yes. She left the room and some old hispanic lady came in askign for the money. He told her he needed to go to the car to get his smokes and RAN AS FAST AS HE COULD and we took off.
The things you do when your were 18.. My guess is you can find decent rates and those rates of $1000+ are for celebrity status women. Not for the run of the mill chicks. My guess a 1hr session would run around $100-$300 now a days. But that is 100% just my assumption....

For that kind of money you could fly to Amsterdam and have a REALLY good time with women who don't look like they were recruited from an alley.
I made it as far as the mom and son. Way too creepy for me.

The prices were described as "negotiable," which probably means they start at $1500 and are "negotiated" down to $100 or so. Interesting that the girls claim to make $200,000; even half that would be pretty good income for lazy morons like the specimens presented.
IMO there was only one really good-looking girl in the whole show - the one who was on camera for about 2 minutes, talking about how she had thought "working girl" meant "exotic dancer." The rest were sleazy sluts, most likely headed for bag-lady status in a few years. The whore-master unsurprisingly came across as a thoroughy repulsive, hypocritical slob.
HBO keeps presenting these scum-bag glorifying, sex-oriented series, which I object to on moral grounds but find myself watching anyway - strictly for their value as social commentary, of course.

of course!
could you imagine paying $1000 for an hour? how stupid!

Strangest moment concerning the production:
The producers of "Cathouse" used the "Coupling" theme (Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps) smack dab in the middle of their show for no apparent reason. I was very confused for a minute (since "Coupling" was actually on opposite on BBCA), until I realized the DirecTiVo didn't actually accidentally change channels on me :)

If you want a good idea of how these places work read "Brothel". It's really very good and covers all aspects of the business (like why it is legal in NV anyway).
Hmmmm.... How about the Southwest Region Tivo Picnic at the Bunny Ranch????

Not at THOSE prices!
$1000 for an hour was the cheaper prices I saw quoted! WOW! That's one EXPENSIVE piece of tail!

Oh great! Now Amazon thinks I like prostitutes.....and home improvement. Thanks Ehopper ;)

What killed me about this show, was the clients reaction to being told they are part of an HBO special. They were all totally shocked and embarassed... then with a little convincing they were fine with it....
Where do they get these people? And how about that hooker listening to her msgs.
Beep:"B--tch I want to peel you like a banana... call me back, this is Steve", click.
too funny

I watched Cathouse on Sunday night and almost died laughing when a dear friend called on Monday morning and invited me to tea this Thursday. No, really. I thought she was kidding, but she hadn't seen the show. ;)
Now I just have to decide if I should wear my sparkly bikini, or my American flag tube top. Decisions, decisions.

Don't forget that Thursday's are "doctor days" as well ;)

I heard a local radio person speculate that HBO got the releases signed by comping the visit.
You know, I hesitate before spending $200 on a new TiVo, which I know will give me long term pleasure. I hope steuert's right, and the $1000 ones they showed on HBO were just the rubes that didn't know they should haggle.

$1,000 for an hour... Does that mean you can get 30 seconds of fun for < $10?? :D
Posted by: grins
no, 30 seconds of fun is $1000. The 59:30 of awkward conversation is free

That is what I assumed, but I watch these people had madame whatshername the cash
Posted by: markp99
The credits did note that SOME of the people were compensated for their agreed participation.

I could be wrong but I can't imagine anyone being compensated for their participation in a documentary. I think it was good old American "I'm gonna be on TV" stupidity. Just like Cops, Jerry Springer and the guy on that live tv autopsy.
As interesting and titillating as I found the docu, I'm always a little unnerved by people who work in the sex industry bending over back wards to convince the rest of the world how absolutely normal their work is ("we're clean! we're tested! we can afford houses! we masturbate on each other's legs!") and how they're actually performing a therapeutic service for the rest of us. Oh well, I guess someone has to do it. But how do these poor, scarred, surgically enhanced women hop on top of some of these losers? Gag.
And what's up with the married couples that want to "spice" up their sex lives? Is it just me or do the men always seem much more into it then their poor wives.

I figure the $1000 price quoted for a 1 hour "party" was an attempt by the owner to set the price point for future customers. I'd be amazed if these "ladies" really got $1000/hr. At the end it said the show was shot over a two month period. Took a long while to get that footage.

If you saw Howard Stern the other night on E! (I think also tonight) he is playing a show called Freaky Feud. Well the contestants are 3 whores from the Cathouse (bunny Ranch) & 3 whores from NYC. Well the NYC whores said they get paid $300 an hour for a date and they COME to your place. Which is more likely a $ amount than the Vegas chicks were claiming.

I hadn't originally recorded this but I decided to see what the discussion was about. I, too, was freaked by the mom/son thing. I actually thought the way things were going that she was going to stay and watch. Since she was 'investing' in her son's education I assumed that she was going to stick around and see what kind of return she got for her money.
I just caught the part 9 minutes in where she's describing the time-card and timing process and it showed her setting the timers for each client. I went back and slow-motioned her setting two timers and she set them for 10 minutes on each of the two clients. I think little Billy Bob got screwed :o I think he could have arranged for five minutes. He sure didn't need an hour.
