Is anyone watching TAKEN, the new Spielberg show?

Is the show Taken worth a look? Anyone watching it? Is it any good?
Posted by: Bryanmc
You might want to head over to the Now Playing section of the forum.
There are discussions there about it.

Yep, at least 3 threads (2 of those are episode-specific though) over in the Now Playing/TV Talk forum.
Short opinion summary: Surprisingly good. First episode was borderline, but it's definitely getting interesting. I'm looking forward to tonight's 6th episode, and I was actually disappointed this weekend when there weren't new episodes for two days.

I have watched 2 of the 5 and have the other 3 tivoed of course. So far I like it. I think it is better them most things on TV, although that is not hard. I don't want to put any spoilers in here, but I would say "yes, it is worth a look."

I was hoping someone would post on this forum about it. I love it. They ran a 10 hour marathon Saturday that my TiVo caught. I went to watch the first episode yesterday and ended up watching all 10 hours in one sitting. I can't wait for tonight.

Oh man. I missed it!
I would've really loved to TiVo the Marathon, too, had I not missed it as well!
Damn. Guess I have to start watching commercials to know when new shows are coming on!

Sheesh, Ereth, where have you been hiding?!?
But all is not lost. Episodes 1-5, Saturday. Episodes 6-10, Sunday.
Hope your TiVo is upgraded!

Also, note that all 10 episodes will be shown in a super-marathon after the last episode airs on Friday.
Me? Way behind. 5 on TiVo so far, but I've only watched about 20 minutes of episode 1.

I have been watching it from day one with low expectations, but it turned out great. The first two episodes were ok, but then it began to get good. I'm hooked now.
(I wish my 80 tivo would hurry up and get here already)

I couldnt help but think that Chris Carter would have done well to flesh out the XFiles back story ala Taken. The combination of the two shows would have made a great 5 year series.

Unfortunately, Carter was just making it up as he went along (and boy, did I feel better after learning that! Stopped trying to figure things out and just enjoyed the show). Judging from what I've seen of his work (as much as I like it), he doesn't seem like the type to work anything out in detail.
I'm starting to think that Taken is gonna be a DVD keeper...

It's not the best I've ever seen, but it's kept my attention enough to watch it... Take a look, that's what TiVo's for :)

I'm enjoying it. It does take some dedication to watch it with a non upgraded TiVo though. :)

I set the SP last week, but have not yet watched any episodes.
Question. My GF just can not watch anything creepy, frightening, etc. For those of you that have seen some of this, how scary does it get?
I haven't read any of the Now Playing threads for fear of seeing spoilers.

There are a few scenes here and there that "spook" you (along the lines of a man jumping out from behind a tree and going "Boo!") but nothing along the lines of a horror movie. I'd say it's similar to Close Encounters in terms of scare factor. That's just my opinion. YMMV.
In last night's episode, Charlie and Lisa, there was a scene with a lot of blood. It was kind of freaky, even for me. Without using spoilers, I will say that I found it fairly obvious when it was going to happen.

I have really enjoyed the show. I was a little disinterested originally due to the 20 hour length, but I am glad that I gave it a chance. Can't wait for tonights ep.

There are a few scenes that are a bit suspenseful/creepy, but nothing seriously scary. Of course I've seen zillions of horror movies so maybe I'm jaded, but the show is really more of a character-driven sci-fi drama.
Here's a good practical joke: Take your GF to see The Ring...tell her it's a romantic comedy :).

Alien abduction stories just don't interest me that much. Never have. The closest I've come to enjoying one is a Kids in the Hall sketch.

Tonight's episode, God's Equation, had more gore in it than in past episodes. Be warned!

I'm enjoying Taken. The only problem is how long it takes to watch each episode. Currently, I'm a week behind (I've seen the first 2 episodes), and I think the best I'll be able to do is one episode a day until this weekend.

"Your the moon and the stars to me....the moon and the stars"
I'm through 3 1/2. I like it even more now.
