Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)

SG-1 come back from a desert planet ("The breeze was quite pleasant" quips
Teal'c), bringing with them a throbbing yellow device. Jonas explains that it
stared to throb when he touched it (?) then is distracted by a huge, flying, red
insect that isn't there. Hammond has learnt his lesson from Legacy and, despite
nobody else seeing it, first puts the base on alert and searches it, before
sending Jonas to Janet for an examination.

Nothing out of the ordinary is found in Jonas' tests, but because of the effect
Naquadria had on the other people he worked with on Kelowna, he is confined to
base. The rest of SG-1 is sent off on holiday. Jack tries to persuade Sam to
come fishing, again, and again, she refuses (he isn't yellow and pulsing so
isn't as interesting to her as the alien device). Jonas tries to help translate
some symbols but when he gets near the device he sees a huge blue and yellow
crawly thing.

Jonas and Teal'c walk down a corridor, Jonas finding out he's the only one Jack
hasn't asked to go fishing with him. Teal'c tells him how lucky he is. Then
Teal'c sees one of the insects.

Jack stops at a gas station, the slightly weird bloke there, Vernon, chats to
him for a bit. Then Jack sees a red insect and blasts at it, frightening the
poor guy out of what is left of his wits and ruining his sign (and in the
process making the world a more tasteful place). He calls Hammond who tells him
the whole base has been seeing the things. Vernon shrieks at Jack not to kill
him as he's a veteran, he was in the motor pool during the Gulf war.

Jonas translates some of the markings with Sam's help, the things they are
seeing are from another dimension. They aren't really there and and so aren't a
threat. All the machine is doing is making everybody able to see them. They pull
out the crystals from the machine and it turns off and nobody sees any of the
colourful little critters, case closed we all think? Except of course... it's
never as easy as that. The next day someone spots one in the canteen.

They decide to take the device back to its home planet, but that doesn't work,
as soon as the stargate closes on it Chevron Guy sees one of the scuttling blue
ones. They're back to square one so they bring it back again to research it.
Meanwhile, people are still seeing things and it looks like it's spreading.

Sam and Jonas realise that the machine must have altered their body chemistry in
some way so they can see the other dimension and the change is spreading like a
virus "It's like an electrical charge passing from person to person.". They then
take the illogical leap to 'If we alter the machine in some way so it throbs all
green then it will cure us'. It does, so Jonas cures sam in "Very sweet
hand-holding scene"#1.

The airforce then go around being all touchy-feely with everyone Jack has been
in contact with, no problem it seems until they get to vernon's gas Station.
vernon seems to have vanished, but one of his customers crashes into a tree
complaining of a huge bug on his windscreen (presumably he is then forceably
held down and hand-held).

Vernon runs away when he sees this and hitches a lift to an airport. Jack gets
on the blower and asks Sam and Jonas (the research twins?) to check on vernon's
background. Sam checks his bank account, he drew out all his cash that afternoon
so shouldn't have any difficulties running away even though they have cancelled
his credit cards. Jonas is shocked that they can get all this info so easily.
They decide to go and visit Vernon's granny. She tells them he will have gone to
visit that no-good friend of his, Chuck. She only tells them this because
they're such a lovely young couple (cue "Very sweet hand-holding scene"#2), but
doesn't know where he is or what his surname is, but does let out that Vernon
was suffering from some kind of Gulf War Syndrome and had halucinations which
were not treated very sympathetically by the military.

They find the man who Vernon hitched with and Jack goes to the airport where
Vernon is about to board a flight to Las Vegas. All the flights are cancelled,
Jack spots Vern and chases him into a hanger (the same one they used for the
X-302 in Redemption). He talks Vernon into letting him touch him by telling him
the almost truth, the things are aliens which will do them no harm. They walk
away into the sunset.
