After reading all the great comments from the TIVO Community, I jumped in - got the 40hr ATT model...(paid the extra $25 since when I ordered it wsa still unlcear if the serial port connector would work from the TIVO store)...Serial connector worked just fine...Connection to TIVO Central worked just fine...but wouldn't show t.v stations.
I used the composite connectors from the Cable Box to TIVO and RF from TIVO to TV (RF because I would have lost a TV input that I needed for another device)...It appeared as though the composite out's on the cvable box werent sending signal so I just used an RF from the Cable Box to the Tivo...Problem instantly solved...Just a heads up for anyone else using the Motorola Box...
So TIVO is in fact the greatest thing that I wish I had gotten years ago...I owe my pleasant experience to all the people who participate on this TIVO Community forum...Thank You...
One little question - Can I use the TIVO remote to contol the TV's antennae input? I used an RF splitter to bring the cable directly to my auxiliary antenna connector on the back of the TV but I hate having to use two remotes....Any universal remotes out there that will control everything? TiVO, Cable Box, TV, VCR?
Thanks again!

A lot of people on the forum love the MX-500, which is the little brother of the MX-700 pictured on the homepage of the Remote Central web site.
