Make TiVo button + 0 do something useful

No offense to the folks that like watching the Tivo animation, but I think that this remote shortcut could be put to better use. And for DirecTivo owners, I think this shortcut won't work soon anyway.
So, my preference would be for Tivo+0 to go directly into System Information, unless someone else suggests a better idea, in which case I'll change my mind. :)

I'm all for another shortcut (my preference would be for the phone dialing screen, but that's just me), but how do you suggest we standalone users access the animation, if not by shortcut? I'm certainly not going to reboot the box each time my son wants to see it. :)

Have it go directly to a new free space indicator! :D

rbird: Maybe they'd make it so that the animation would play if you press 0 from Now Playing.
JPriller: System Information is where I think any free space indicator should go!

Absolutly NO reason to have a free space indicator! :D

Or just get rid of the animation altogether - it's advertising taking up space on MY hard drive that I PAID for... wahhhh! :p

Have it go to Teach TiVo™! Hell, just have anything go to Teach TiVo™. I miss Teach TiVo™.
Oh, and by the way, did I mention: Teach TiVo™.

They are probably going to release an update that lets you customize the shortcut, but it will be an extra $5 a month. It seems lately they are only willing to do things that they can use to squeeze more money out of people, whatever happened to customer service?

Please elaborate - how did you come by this information?

I think by a divination method known as "sarcasm". ;)

It's not even that easy to hit TiVo-0 on the peanut remote. You have to go all the way to the top of the remote to hit the TiVo button, then all the way to the bottom to hit the zero. This isn't much of a shortcut for all of those people out there with tiny little hands.
On the Sony remote, however, it's the easiest shortcut to use. TiVo and zero are neighbors.

TiVo +0 should deliver a pony to my house.

TiVo plus zero should equal TiVo.

You evil, evil person! I love the tivo guy! Are you such a lazy couch potato that you need to get to system info with a shortcut. How often must you go to system information anyway!
Tivo guy forever! I love the interstitials!

Hasn't worked for me since getting 3.1.

I don't vote for getting rid of the TiVo guy either, but I go to my System Information screen at least once a day. Of course, I am way too obsessed with my DTiVos' tempteratures, too, so that might have something to do with it. ;)

Are all the shortcuts documented anywhere?

Why can't TiVo remote shortcuts (TiVo + 1-9) be set up as recordable macros (with the current shortcut set as the default) and TiVo + 0 as the macro record function - similar to the macro function in word processors?
How would it work?
1) To use a default shortcut - Press TiVo then the number.
2) To change (overwrite) a shortcut - Press TiVo, then 0. Up would pop an instruction screen: "If you want to record a new shortcut, Push each button you want included in this shortcut. When you have finished, press Enter." As an example, to display Recording History, you would press TiVo, down, down, down, down, right, right, Enter. A 2nd instruction would then pop up: "Press the TiVo button and then the number you want this short assigned to." Using the same example, you might press TiVo, 4. Finally, the final screen: "The shortcut has been recorded."
And most importantly, a section should be added to the TiVo Service Viewer's Guide that would document the default shortcuts and the overwriting feature.

Don't you mean "one tiny little hand"? If you have use of more than one hand, it isn't quite so hard.
My sister has found that having the animation at easy reach is a nice way to distract a young child quickly.
