Upgrade 2 drives to 1?

I have one of the old, original 14 hour Tivo standalone boxes, with a lifetime subscription. A couple of years ago I added a second 40 gig hard drive, with the help and expertise of the great folks on this forum. This was considered seriously high capacity when I did it :-)
I have been getting a lot of stuttering lately and the consensus seems to be the impending failure of a hard drive.
It would seem to me that the simplest thing to do would be to just upgrade the Tivo to one big new hard drive and get rid of the 2 in there now. I don't know which drive is having a problem and with the costs of a new 80 gig or so hard drive I really don't care.
I am concerned that I don't have a backup of the original 1 hard drive configuration.
Can I do this? Can someone point me at the right place to find the steps?
Also, is there a way to get the recorded programs over there also? I have like 30 hours of stuff I'd like to copy over.
Thanks for your help.

If you make a compressed backup from your current drive set it will be a 'divorced' backup that can be restored to a single, 14Gb drive.
You can use an MFS Tools pipe to copy your recordings from your current drives to a new one.
Full instructions for both these procedures are in Hinsdale's post at the top of this Forum.
Note that once you've copied your recordings to the new drive and expanded it you won't be able to expand the A drive any further and keep your recordings, so you might want to go straight to 120Gb.
