Tivo Shortcuts

Regular Tivo users will no doubt have heard about these "shortcuts":

Well, when I read that list, I took it to mean that you should press the Tivo button and then press the relevant number key. However, I discovered tonight that this is not the case. You simply press the required number key at any time while on the Tivo Central screen.

Sorry if this is obvious, but it wasn't to me so I just thought I'd share :)

Edited to format list

Well if you are at TiVo Central you have already pressed the TiVo button!

Otherwise to use the shortcuts you press the TiVo button and then short cut number.

If you press, e.g. Tivo 2 from anywhere you will get to the required place - it really means take me to the Tivo central screen and give me shortcut 2. As you are alreay on Tivo Central you are deemd to have already pressed the Tivo button (I know you can get to Tivo central by pressing left-arrow from other menus)

Why oh why are these things not documented in the manual. They are good shortcuts and possible selling points for easy access!
Stupid marketing company :p

"Tivo - Tivo" is the shortcut for the Now Playing screen btw.

Well not quite, because if you're at TiVo Central, TiVo 2 will take you to Now Playing....

Thanks Carl: wasn't obvious to me either (that I didn't need to press TiVo button).

I omitted that as too obvious :)

[winge] and TiVo 0 does NOTHING anymore :( [/winge]

They are documented in the manual! They are in the 2.5.5 manual (well, a few of them, with text encouraging you to find the rest out yourself!)
When you are upgraded to 2.5.5 you get a message on your tivo telling you that there is a new manual on the website, and also that if you haven't got internet access you can call customer services for more details.
If you don't read that message, and then don't go on to obtain the 2.5.5 manaul, then yes - you'll never know half of what it can do :)

Well, it was entirely obvious to me.

So there! :p

So they are in an online manual ? Ah, I only look at my printed one, which would be based around 1.1.1 or whatever it was...

No, see my post. When you get the upgrade you are told where to get the new manual (either online or by phoning customer services).

1.5.2. Yes well, in that case it's your own fault for not heeding the documentation, which tells you to get the new manual...
