Best upgrade path for broken B: drive?
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

A buddy of mine had his HDR112 upgraded last year by adding a second drive. The second drive is now broken, and he's asking me what to do. He's got his original 2.0 hard drive in storage somewhere, but doesn't know if the old software will cause a problem. He has no settings or programs that need to be preserved.
What's the best course of action to fix his unit?
Although I haven't upgraded a unit for some time, i'm thinking that the best idea would be to get one larger drive and download a 3.0 image onto it. Then he'd have an upgraded unit without having to worry about a second drive.
Is this the right suggestion? Is there anything else he should consider?
Thanks,
Darq

The 2.0 image will be fine. The TiVo will upgrade automatically to 3.0 on its first call.
