Why I Love The Buffer

Today I turn on my TV at 1:20PM. It is tuned to USA because it had tivoed The Huntress this morning. I notice that USA is showing the Huntress movie the one that preceeded the series. This I have not seen and had hoped to catch sometime. I have a season pass to the Huntress but I suspect that because this was classified as a movie it didn't pick it up. Have no fear the first twenty minutes are in the buffer. Hit record and grab it. Go to Now Playing hit play just to make sure I've got the whole thing. Yes, it's all there. Thanks Tivo for making my day. Now I have something special to watch for tonight.

One thing I noticed with the movie is that a different actress is playing the daughter. Anyone know why they replaced her with a different actress for the series? I do like the one in the series she just cracks me up.

By the way USA will air all new episodes of the Huntress starting this Sunday, June the 3rd.

I love the buffer too. It's a lifesaver sometimes. Had you thought of a wishlist? This would have picked up the movie on USA or any other channel.

BTW, the PGA is here in Tulsa this month. The weather has been good for the grounds, so everything is really growing...but I doubt that it will slow the fast green at Southern Hills by much.

I hadn't thought of a wishlist although that would have been the best idea. Sometimes I'm afraid of wishlists. Mostly on how to go about setting them up. In this case would I set it up like The Huntress and then put it under the subcategory movie. Or would I set it up as a keyword wishlist with "The Huntress" and movie.

By the way one of my movie wishlists set up by movie title hit pay dirt last week by finding a movie showing for today. It was an auto-record one so it just popped up in the To Do List. The movie was originally on air at the end of March and I had recorded it but then I spent three days in the hospital and by then it had been deleted along with a bunch of other stuff including the series finale of Mash that I have never seen. Boo Hoo! That will teach me to get ill and require medical treatment with an almost full Tivo with more shows on the To Do List.

Have now got the series finale of Mash as an auto recording wishlist by the title of the show. But the problem is I have noticed that not all Mash episodes show up in the Tribune data with episode titles. I am beginning to wonder if it would be better to set up the Wishlist as "Mash" and series finale.

BTW we had wonderful weather for the Women's U.S. Open every day except Friday which was a wash-out. Moore County had four inches of rain! Good thing we have the sandy soil which dries out quickly. I guess they don't call it the Sandhills for nothing. Went over to one of the practice rounds and got to see Anika Sorenstam tee off on the first hole. She is so tiny but she can hit the ball a ton.

You mention the fast greens at Southern Hills. Yep, that is a modus operandi for U.S. Opens. Remember the greens at Pinehurst No. 2 where the balls kept running off of them. The winner at the Open is someone who can hit the ball and get it to hold the greens. Look forward to seeing the men on Father's Day weekend. Is this the first Open for Southern Hills?

TiVoZorro,

What I would do is make a keyword wishlist for "Huntress" with no subcategory selection. Why? Because this would pick up the series and the movie on any channel.

The reason I don't use subcategories is because if you don't choose the same subcategory as the person at Tribune (or whoever), then it won't pick it up. Once I learned to avoid subcategories, my problems with wishlists went away.

For example, I liked a short series, "The Great Egyptians." Since it wasn't on, I made a wishlist for it with the subcategory as documentary/something-or-other. One day I was skimming for shows to record and see that it is on a different channel than last time, but my wishlist didn't get it because they had the subcategory as something like, historical/documentary. I missed one or two episodes before I had caught this. With wishlist as a keyword, and no subcategory, I get it every time.

Now, for "Huntress," I doubt the wishlist would pick up anything but the series and the movie, but once in a while there might be something else with that word in it, but you can delete it easy enough.

Now to golf. I have to admit I've already said all I know about golf, so I may get some of the names wrong. The PGA/US Open was here a few years ago...that was the one where Tiger's dad got ill and went to the hospital for a few days. I seem to remember that big tournaments are here every few years. As a side note, when I was 18 I took a temp job for a few extra bucks with Pinkerton Security. It was for a similar big-time golf tournament at Southern Hills. My job (get this) was inside the back door of the locker room! I was to make sure that only players and their caddys came in that intrance. I saw Arnie, Jack, Johnny Miller, and so on...but no autographs due to the job! Rats! But I still remember it, and I guess that's more than most will see.

Try the wishlist like I described, my SP Manager has mostly wishlists in it now.

Good luck, I'll wave to you from the 7th hole!
