S2: 2xUSB==router/NAT?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'm considering getting a Directivo. However, I'd like it to also function as my home firewall/router/NAT/DHCP server. I'm connected to cable internet. Port forwarding would be an added bonus. (I'd also want to install tivoweb and, if possible, Postfix.)

The Series 2 has two USB ports. So, using those two ports, can I set it up to grab an IP address from my cable provider on one, and be a DHCP server on the other (connected to a hub), while providing firewall (IPtables preferably) functions?

TIA.

For now the only use for either USB port is an Ethernet adapter. There is no additional software or configuration that the TiVo can do beyond just using that connection for downloads.

If you want a NAT, then look for a basic Linksys router or equivalent.

Their kernel lacks iptables support so you can't firewall or NAT with it. (nor can you change the kernel)
