Anybody know a simple way to hook a at&t tivo to a sony digital cable box. It has a 'remote' plug in on the back of it and the manual has info about it being for a ir hook up, but when you look in the tivo set up it has only the 3 box's listed and Sony is not one of them.

What i find funny is that Sony makes a tivo, so why the hell don't they support their own cable box's?

Any help would be nice, thanks

It has nothing to do with the Sony. It has to do with whether your cable company's software that's running on the Sony supports it. When you buy a Motorola/General Instruments cable box, for example, it is a blank slate which the cable company loads software onto.

The actual brand of cable box is not a significant part of whether serial support is possible or not.

Also, the programming effort to enable serial support on these myriad cable boxes would best be spent moving all cable boxes and cable providers to OpenCable so TiVo can come out with a universal dual tuner digital cable TiVo.
