Hey guys!

Thanks for all of the cool tools and easy instructions.

I've been reading this board for over a year, and finally got the gumption to do the upgrade.

Piece of cake. Used a 80 Gig WD hd on sale at Best Buy. Stored the original drive as a backup - it had stoppled on me once or twice, and I had it GSOD a month ago -- didn't feel safe using it in a dual drive system.

Temperature is fine (it's a 7200 rpm drive), and it's quieter than the previous drive.

When tiger says it will take 1-4 hours to preserve your recordings, he meant 4 hours!

I appreciate all the great info, and hope it isn't too redundant or a faux pas to post here to say "Woo Hoo!" and thanks!

David

i just finished mine a couple hours ago- added a 100GB WD 7200rpm drive to the existing 40gb in my HDVR2. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet :D

many thanks to all the great info from everybody here. although, anybody else that added a second drive to the HDVR2 think that the location you put the extra drive (well, the drive you put on the bracket, that actually ends up being the A drive) is a bit too close to those heatsinks below?? i got about 1/8" clearance, maybe a bit more.. 41C is system temp, but i wonder if the drive sags a bit and makes contact w/ that heatsink, will it go a bit too hot...

ehh..not too worried, but caught my eye. Loving my 124 hrs :D
