Some specualtion in this article about the next version of the ps2.

Note, this is NOT the PS3!

I'd buy a PS2-Vo!

"a combination TiVo-PS2 device"

Do they mean TiVo, or PVR?

I think that the author is speculating that, because Sony is an investor in TiVo, it will be a Sony PS2 and a TiVo in one.

PS2 and TiVo together in one machine is a cool idea, if not somewhat late.

It's cool except that my TiVo (the functionality of it) will likely outlast my videogame machine. Imagine of they had combined a TiVo with a N64 when it came out.

I like separate devices as then I can pick the best of each without compromises and I can toss the devices that no longer serve me and still keep the ones that do.

You've got to bear in mind the problem Sony is facing, though. Games like FFXI require a hard drive, but convincing the average American consumer to pony up more than $50 for a gaming peripheral is next-to-impossible.

Enter TiVo... if they can pitch that drive add-on as a digital media enhancement *in addition* to a gaming device, they might be able to slip an extra couple hundred thousand of them past wives and mothers everywhere.

A new entry for to-do list history:

Inside sources have informed me that there IS a potential Tivo application for the PS2's hard drive coming out later this year, although they could not technically confirm it.
