My Tivo thinks it is an AT&T

So I just got my new Series 2 40-hour yesterday. I set it up and did a daily call, and all was good. Today I force a call and it downloads a new version of Tivo!! This is strange I think. The version number is 3.2.001-2-230 and now my Tivo thinks it is an AT&T branded unit, which it is not. What's going on here?

And that's bad how?
An AT&T TiVo will control certain Motorola digital cable boxes with the serial cable. Other than that, it is identical to any other TiVo out there.

All is still good. The recent 40 hours coming from tivo are identical to the AT&T branded one coming from tivo. In other words, there doesn't seem to be a "tivo-brand only" 40 hour from the website.
This is a good thing, because the only difference between and AT&T Tivo and a non AT&T Tivo, is that the AT&T Tivo has the ability to control certain AT&T cable boxes via serial. The rest is identical.
So don't sweat it. You have 1 more capability than you thought, and haven't lost a thing.

I thought _all_ 40 hour Tivo2s "think" they're AT&T-branded. In any event, you only gain features (actually, feature--contolling AT&T boxes) via this condition. So, in the immortal words of Nelly, "it's all good."

Yes, it is.
It always said AT&T; you just probably didn't notice before. That's all that TiVo sells from their site now. It had nothing to do with the new download.

All TiVos sold now come with an older version of the software pre-installed. So the first time they call in for program data, they automatically download the latest version of the software. Nothing strange about that at all. The latest version is 3.2, so it won't do that again until TiVo releases a new version.
