The Shield - I missed the first three episodes

Does anyone know how long it takes for Blockbusters or Hollywood Videos to start renting the DVD? I think the release date for sale is next week.
I started recording the marathon and my channel changed in the middle of the pilot (I think I accidentally hit my cable remote), then the IR blaster failed for the second episode. When I caught it on the third episode, I immediately went to change my IR codes not realizing that I was affecting the recording of the third episode. What a disaster!
I have every episode now except the first three. Any kind souls out there have those episodes and are able to send them to me? I'll return them and pay postage. I saw the first half hour of the pilot and I'm anxious to get caught up with this show from the very beginning.

Basically, we learn that he's not a very nice man.
There, all caught up! :D

Actually there is a lot in the first 3 that you need to see, the DVDs come out Tuesday.

Never would have happened with a DirecTiVo. I have no idea why people suffer with a single tuner, let alone that IR blaster crap! :p

Very true, I was just being a wise-a$$. Actually, the whole season is very much of a piece; it's one of the more continuity-laden shows out there (and I mean that in a good way).

Thats what I love about it, its not like Law and order where one week to the next is just a different crime, things carry over.. Also I noticed a new movie coming out with Kurt Russel, Forget the name but from the trailer it looks like a total rip off of the show.

I've now watched the first 6 episodes and I'd like to know why nobody forced me to watch this show last season!

I think I'll just buy the DVD on Tuesday. I liked what I saw and I've read a lot of great stuff about the show on this forum. Although, the latest Entertainment Weekly review gave the season premeire a C+.

I never trust TV reviewers, particularly EW's. They've gotten much too harsh with shows lately, and it seems like their expectations are too high.
I'll be buying the DVD set tomorrow. Can't wait to see the new season.

I have been watching the marathon. I think this is a great show. However while discussing The Wire here the general opinion was that The Shield was a superior show. I do not agree with this. Having seen around 8 The Shield episodes in a short amount of time I think The Wire was a much better show. Perhaps I prefer the single ongoing story or perhaps I prefered the characters.
Do not get me wrong. The Shield is a top notch show and is up there in my top 5 shows in the last year or two, just, for me, not as good as The Wire.

wrongdoing in the station house (called ''the Barn,'' I guess either because Mackey's such a stud or because the other cops are such clucking chickens).
- from the EW article
Farmington is the Farm. The station house is the Barn. duh. Watch the show.
Matt Roush (USA Today) is a much better TV critic than Tucker.

Critics are morons... they say EVERYTHING is bad unless it's a sappy carebear show. The Shield is the 3rd best series I have seen in the last decade.

So the question begs: what's #s 1 & 2?
