Yes... we have made it through the desert...

(known as the holiday break) ... and before us, the second season ! :D

For me, at least :

Tonight - Alias returns. How will they save Marshall from creepy (and now "1-in-5" (?)) Chinese guy ? As SD-6, CIA, or on their own ? Does Will get involved (that would be kinda cool) ?

Tuesday - 24 returns. Does the plane actually crash or will Jack save the day (or moment, in this case) again ? My guess is that it crashes and only Jack and Nina survive.

Tuesday (again) - The Shield: Season 2 arrives. Yess.... (what more needs to be said?)

Of course, there are other shows that either start soon or continue their seasons. For example, does OZ start its final season tonight ? I've never seen an episode of it (and I have HBO)... but it does sound good enough that I may put the DVDs down as a future buy.

Joe Millionaire, Celebrity Mole: Hawaii, and The Surreal Life all start this week, as well :)

Stargate SG-1 & Farscape have new episodes starting this Friday also.

Joe Millionaire - I'm interested (kinda like watching a train wreck). I think that the concept is great... just looking to see about the execution.

Celebrity Mole: Hawaii - Rats... you mean that the rest of the tapes were saved in the fire? <Sigh> I'll TiVo the first ep (as long as it doesn't conflict with anything).. but probably won't watch beyond that.

The Surreal Life - Haven't heard anything about it... I assume its "reality TV" (like the other choices were)

Stargate SG-1 - Bought Season 1 on DVD the other day... seriously need to catch up.

Farscape - Since I don't get SciFi (<grrr>), I have lost some interest in the show... but still wish that it somehow survives the boot that it got.

It's a show where 7 "celebrities" move into a house (like the real world), and cameras follow them wherever they go. The only catch is they must go everywhere together as a group. The celebs are: MC Hammer, Emmanual Lewis, Baywatch hottie Brande Roderick, Corey Feldman, Gabrielle Carteris, Motley Crue singer Vince Neil, and former Survivor Jerri Manthey. Evil, Slightly Evil, and Delightfully Evil :)

Does anyone really think that Joe Millionare could possibly end well? Even if the 'winning' woman can get over the money issue, the guy is still a jerk for participating in the charade. I know we all lie a little bit when dating, but IMHO this joke is just too cruel to forgive.

I normally avoid reality shows, but I have a weakness for "Real World". I'll have to check out "Surreal Life"; it should be hilarious (I guess somehow I have less sympathy for ex-stars than I do for normal people).

I said it in an earlier thread and I'll say it again here. I'm willing to bet that there's still one or more 'twists' yet to come on this show.

I think that they'll do something along these lines... at the end of the show there'll be a few girls still 'in the race'. At that point they'll reveal the secret that 'Joe' isn't a millionaire, and then they'll ask the girls if they still want to stay with him. If one of them does, despite the money situation, then they'll be rewarded with a million dollar prize.

Of course I could be wrong and this could be (as you say) a cruel charade of an evil show.

Why is this cruel? If the women are really in love with him, who he is, then they shouldn't have a problem if he's rich or not.
If they hemm and haww and back off once they find out, you know that they only wanted him for his money.
Who's more evil here, the man for lying about his income or the woman who's only interested in the man for his income?

Something I thought of today, in a fit of mundane stupidity.

They can never do a Joe Millionaire sequel. Not under the same premise, anyway. The girls would already know he's a cheapie. I suppose they could rename the show to "Who wants to marry a Thousand-aire?"

But "Joe Millionare" is the sequel . . . to "Who Wants to Marry a Millionare?"! That guy was only a paper millionare, and kind of a loser. We all saw how long that lasted...

I've never trusted shows like that though. It surprised me that Darva Conger tried to claim she didn't know what she was getting into. If a guy is a young, single millionaire, and he needs to resort to random women through a national television show in order to get a date/wife, something must be seriously wrong with the guy.

And nothing is wrong with the women? They disgust me even more than the people who came up with the concept or the guy who willingly tricks them.

Oh no...I certainly think the women are much, much more prone to disgust than the men. If they were to call these shows "Who wants to marry a guy on Welfare?", I highly doubt any of these "high-class" women would be applying for the show.
