Anyone watching Smallville in HD?

There's no way I could afford it right now, but this show really makes me wish I had a HD receiver again.
Anyone watching it in HD? How does it look?
Also, this week they're airing the 2 hour "Storm" shows and they said they will be in widescreen. That's cool at least.
Man I wish I could see this in HD. I'd be willing to watch it live.

Let me second that question and further it by curiously wondering if anyone watching in HD has a D-VHS deck.....you can always PM me if you want......

Have you got a D-VHS deck?

I work part time on Saturday's at a high end home theater store. We have a D-VHS deck that passes through our Faroudja scaler and our display is an Electrohome projector with 9inch CRTs and a 90inch Stewart screen.
It's very nice. The Smallville would be nice for demoing...........
Of couse, like an idiot, I just realized I could record off the HD satellite, but I do know that we don't get everything HD. I think the only HD channels we receive at the store are HDNet and HBO's HD channel..........I would assume we/I would need an OTA antenna to get Network HD feeds......

That's right. You'd need an antenna and to be fairly close to Boston to pick up local channels in HD and be able to record them.
And you can't record shows off DirecTV with the DVHS unless you have a $1,000 transcoder box created by a third-party. Or if you live in Dallas, you can pick up HDNet programs off a local station over-the-air.

Oh well. You learn something new every day.
We do have 1080i tapes of Shrek, Chicken Run, Springsteen, various travel shows, and many others and they all look fabulous!

My cable company doesn't offer WB in HD yet. :(

I caught a few glimpses of the Tempest/Vortex episode last night (well, just Vortex, so I can't tell you if they broadcast Tempest in HD. I don't think they had any HD in Season 1). I didn't watch the whole thing, it being a rerun up against a new 24 mind you, but what I saw looked GREAT. Looked like true 1080i, but no dolby digital 5.1. Dolby 2.0 I believe (unless a show lights up the 5.1 on my receiver, I usually turn off the receiver and listen through the TV speakers). Picture quality comparable to CBS and NBC HD. Can't wait to catch a new episode while my DTivo dutifully records 24.
Some of the other WB shows I've flipped over to check out WB HD have not looked nearly as good. Birds of Prey was clearly a 480i stretched. Everwood looked like a stretch job too, which is odd because it's supposed to be in HD.
I still think the best PQ is ABC's 720p, but our local affiliate WJLA RARELY passes the signal through. So frustrating, and making me nervous about my Super Bowl party!

PS - CBS is broadcasting this weekend's AFC playoff games in HD. Fox started their "High-Resolution" 480p widescreen with the 49ers/Giants, and will continue to do so this weekend. I know Feldon will smack me for saying this, but it looked pretty good to me. (Then again, I was comparing it to the other 3 games in SD)
