So i have never seen an episode of this show before and have noticed that Sci-Fi plans on showing reruns starting next week. I have been told by many that it is a good show.
any opinions ??

The first season was good. All kinds of interesting teasers about who the aliens were, why they were here, etc.
Then when it came time to string all those hints together into a coherent story, it became rather obvious the writers never had any clue where they were going with any of it. The history they tried to weave came off like bailing wire and duct tape.
The show was eventually cancelled with enough warning to put together a "final" episode that gave closure to nothing and rendered whole series more or less pointless. Enjoy the first season, but don't expect it to ultimately go anywhere.

I agree with most of the above. The 2nd season was decent, but not as good as the first. They changed the 'formula' of the episodes--think "new coke", drinkable, but not as good as the original. The 3rd season was just awful.

We loved it, then hated it, then liked it, then it was over. It's enough fun to pass the time. Majandra Delfino, who plays Maria, was great. Tom Hanks's son Collin, as Alex was pretty good in it, too.

I really would like to see the episode where *SPOILER HERE* Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
Collin Hanks dies, that episode was very emotional.
As stated before some of the shows were good and some sucked (remember the-was it Bewitched or I dream of Jeannie- episode, boy did that one ever suck)

What about the Snapple episode. That was about as bad as TV can get!
Overall, the show is definitely worth watching. I liked the show the first two seasons. It got really bad when it moved to UPN!

I watched part of the first season, mainly because I'm in love with Katherine Heigl, but it wasnt too bad. Kinda lost track of it after that.

Roswell the TV series was inspired by the series of Roswell High novels for young readers by, if I recall correctly, Melinda Metz. The first episode was a very close adaptation of the first novel. Afterwards, the series diverged from the novels quite drastically. Metz at one point was a staff writer for the TV series, which she described as working in a parallel universe.
The first season concentrated mostly on character development and my-boyfriend-is-an-alien romantic stories.
The second season concentrated mostly on more sci-fi-ish plots, developing the aliens' superpowers and getting some back details on their home planet.
The third season tried to combine the two approaches, with variable success.

Anybody still have a copy of Wednesday's (2/26/2003) Roswell episode? One disk on my T-60 started having problems and my T-60 decided it'd rather reboot continuously. :) That's fixed for now, but I've now got a hole in my Roswell watching I've got to fill... and the series isn't out on DVD yet or I'd just solve it the "easy" way.

Sorry, I watched and deleted it last night.
I too have missed an episode: the one with Future Max, except for the last 7 minutes. The TiVo says it was without power, but coincidentally the episode recorded exactly one week before was suddenly marked (!) instead of (o) and I could finally delete it. Recording history claimed it had lost power when recording that episode as well, which would make sense if it really thought it was recording for a whole week.

Do what? If I understand what your saying I've never seen that. Was it an episode where you weren't sure which you were watching? Please explain.

Okay, I stuck it out through every episode. (I missed the first half of the Vegas episode.)
Overall, I think it was a shame that it was cancelled. I will miss watching it. :(
I have to agree that the 1st season was probably the best one. Season three seemed a little too unfocused, but the last few episodes kind of made up for it.
I'm not sure that the show had much of a future after the 3rd season though. It would have changed from a show about alien teenagers in high school to a show about alien young adults after high school.
If anyone hasn't watched it yet, I suggest starting with the repeat of the first episode today (4/10/03) and recording the next 6 episodes to try it out. I found it to be an interesting show most days!

I too stuck it out, and I think I should have stopped at the end of the first season. The second wasn't bad, wasn't great, I was very unimpressed with the last season, and I thought the finale was awful, it didn't wrap anything up, and left you feeling like you wasted your time watching the series...

I watched it all because I had watched the first two seasons originally and didn't have UPN.
Some loose ends: what about all the critically ill children Max also healed? And Deputy Valenti? And Brody's sudden absence?

If you can give me an episode number or a title, I might be able to find it. I saved a lot of it off onto tape when it originally played.

I got the impression that they were going to continue to heal people from now on. That being the case, there were about to be a bunch more people with "powers".
What about Deputy Valenti? What do you mean?
The Brody disappearance seems to be what it was portrayed as. He seems to really have sold the museum as was described. Wait, which one was Brody again?
You could tell that the ending was rushed. At least there was an ending though. I'm still trying to reconcile what happened on Now and Again!

Max also healed Deputy Valenti (formerly Sherrif Valenti, formerly lead for the Kit Shickers) in the last season for a gunshot wound he received.
Brody was the owner of the museum in the second season. One of the people used as puppets by Antarians. No idea who owned it in the third if he sold it.

Ahhh. Yes, Deputy Valenti would eventually get "powers" too. That was the same reason that Kyle went with the aliens. I see what you are saying!
Honestly, I was really uncomfortable with Jesse not going until I saw the pairing off of Max-Liz, Michael-Maria, and Isabel-Kyle (who has feelings for her anyway). Once I saw that, I realized that it kind of made sense.
I got mixed up. Brody was the second guy and I don't remember anything being tied up for him as you said. Didn't he figure out eventually that he was not abducted as much as he was being used as a vessel?

I believe the indication was that being brought back from the dead was what caused the powers to trasnfer, not simple healing.
That being the case though, there should be a bird out there with alien powers.

Good point. I never saw it like that. :)
