Alias and Linux

Just got around to watching this weeks episode. Some things I noticed:
Screen grab of some Linux compilation (looked like a kernel compile but there wasn't enough of it to tell).
Shots of a KDE desktop.
Shots of some useless C code (header file) being edited on said desktop.
Sweet.

Yep...noticed that too.

Big step up from most such shots, which usually either have math formulae, or random strings of 1s and 0s, digits, or characters.

JJ Abrams seems to be a computer junkie, so even though "all lost email packets wind up in Vietnam" , there are probably some details that are attended to...
He designed/created the opening title sequence and theme music for Alias on his Powerbook http://www.epinions.com/content_173...28/show_~allcom , and had Kevin Mitnick on the show for kicks: http://www.ew.com/ew/report/0,6115,...tspoton,00.html

I always get a kick out of the IP addresses they use. One octet is always out of range. I don't consider it a nit, though, because there are plenty of geeks that would start slamming a real IP if it was mentioned. :)
