Help is the hughes piece good? I have only used sony dtv rec. so far but ...

dual tuners, recording quality same as the incoming signal...

I had a stand alone with DirecTV for a couple years. Works great.

I recently got a DTV/TiVo combo box, and it's fantastic!! If you are planning to stick with DTV, and get your locals that way too, the DTiVo combo box is very much the way to go primarily for the reasons kroddy mentioned.

All the different brand boxes are pretty much identical on the inside, so really the choice comes down to which remote you like better, and if you have some kind of style you like for the box itself (silver, or black, or WEGA-looking, etc...). You can't go wrong with any of them!
