At least according to the reporter of this story.

Guess they didn't pass Geography in school. :D

maybe the map was just upside down

Maybe he went to Oklahoma.

If you went east from Dallas you'd have to go 24,570 miles to get to Lubbock. (not correcting for being north of the equator) :D

First Bobby Knight and now this. Sucks to be Texas Tech.

That plus the fact this story was almost 12 hours old when the cable news channels went into overdrive. The local Fox station KJTV34 (which I used to work for) was reporting this story last night in their 10pm news. CNN "broke" the story over 12 hours later and it was so humorous watching the other two channels go into overdrive covering the non-story. I guess it was a slow news day. I picked up the phone and called a friend who also is from Lubbock and said, "They'll come to the mike and admit it's all a misunderstanding." Meanwhile we watched a live shot of a Lubbock podium for 2 hours.

I love Lubbock, but jeez it feels like a bad joke some times.

The Basketball team is doing well.

Heaven is Lubbock in my rearview mirror.

Lubbock - the butthole of America.

It's still there. They keep updating the story with "facts" without correcting the original error.

Shows how much I know about Texas geography...I didn't know where Lubbock WAS. <shrugs> Though, a quick look at a map would show me...

If I were Lubbock, I'd move east of Dallas too.

If you go to the Reuters website, the artice has been updated there. I guess Yahoo's feed hasn't pulled it down yet.

Well duh. Of course they're doing well, it's Bobby Knight. But unfortunately, as you'll see in about two minutes when he has his first meltdown, they'll have to live with the guy's off-court persona too.

I spent four years in Indiana and I thought I was done with him when I moved to Houston.

BTW, the article is wrong, Lubbock is a thousand miles from nowhere. :)
