help. I've done some reading but I'm not sure where to go next. I added a turbonet card to my Tivo and had everything working great all the way through to Tivoweb. For some unknown reason my /var/hack directory disappeared. Weird, I thought. I figured I must have done an edit and reboot and corrupted the drive on my Philips DirectTivo with original 30 and 15g drives. The machine started to reboot when I was working in that directory so I gave up and went back to a backup. I've tested the backup before and I know it works.
Anyhow, after loading the backup and without doing anything, the Tivo boots up for about 2-3seconds and then reboots... it does this continually. Any suggestions of what to try next. My home machines are all Windows XP or I would just suck them in and run diagnostics on them. Can I wipe them clean before I do a restore. The restore works great and I can mount the drives and browse around...
Any suggestions of what to try next are appreciated. Apparently, I've just created a 10lb paperweight.

I answered my own question. It turns out that if you work on your DTivo a lot by adding and removing the drives that you can often times inadvertently loosen the white flat ribbon cable that goes between the motherboard and powersupply. It didn't look bad to me but I took it off and flipped it around. Presto... everything worked!...
For those of you looking for solutions to the more obscure hardware problems, you might consider starting at www.9thtee.com (where you can buy the ethernet boards and upgrade parts) and follow the links to the other discussion boards. Browsing through those boards will give you another set of problems and solutions to browse through.
