This new (as in "new to America" but it was broadcast in Japan not too long ago - I think it started in October or so there) series is slated to have its first episode shown on Cartoon network on Saturday 2/1 at 3:00PM. It just showed up in my guide data this morning.

What kind of series is it? What's it about?

It's an anime adventure of sorts that's described here:

Thanks for the heads up! I've been wanting to check this show out.

Not an alert as such (please reference the sticky thread in the Alerts forum for more info). Moving to TV Talk.

I think it sounds like the creator read the OTHERLAND series by Tad Williams.
Good people behind it but still.....

I went to Japan for the summer and saw a PS2 game also based on this series. I can't read Kanjii but it still looked really interesting! I'll probably get a season pass :) Thanks for the heads up!

The first PS2 game (out of four) from the series comes out in February. Just prior to the first DVD of the series coming out.

My girlfriend is VERY excited about this. Thanks for the heads-up. What is it called for the season pass? ".HACK"? or "DOT HACK"?
Posted by: Mike1138
SP says .HACK//SIGNS. Just type in HACK and it will show up.

To tell you the truth, I found it in my listings then setup the SP. I think it's listed as .Hack/Sign. I wasn't sure about how to enter the dot so I waited until it showed up (3PM EST on 2/1/2003) in the listings.

Copy that. Thanks. :)

Just saw ep 1.
Very
Very
slow.
Although compared to Lain, which I almost finished watching on TechTV before I fell asleep, it's incredibly exciting and easy to follow.

I enjoyed it quite a bit since I had some background on the show so I knew some of what was going on. That plus I've played some online roleplaying games before so that made some of the scenes make more sense.

I'm not an anime fan, but even I liked Lain. My g/f's got the entire series on DVD. Can't vouch for .hack, but Lain is very good. I love the opening music.

I watched the series fansubbed. Season passed it. My guide data showed it as .Hack/Sign....
They cut out the opening sequence! the opening sequence rocks.... :(
Posted by: VinceA
Cartoon Network typically cuts the openings of anime programs for supposed time reasons. None of the current Toonami/Adult Swim anime (with the noteable exception of Cowboy Bebop) air with their original openings

Why doesn't this show up in category: intrests/anime?
The only thing I see there is 'anime unleashed' despite having atleast a dozen upcoming anime movies and series.
(offtopic: bubblegum crisis 2040 is on encore :D )

I've got Digimon & Anime Unleashed showing under Interests/Anime. I think the new genres are taking a while to show up on programs.
OT: I've already got BGC 2040 on DVD here :)
