How quickly do system updates come?

Can anyone tell me how fast the automatic system update process works? Days? Weeks?

I recently had to replace my hard drive without a backup, and unwittingly installed an image (2.01) which does not support my dual lnb configuration.

I think I have two choices, pull the drive and try a later image, or wait for the system to update itself (I think dual lnb support came in at 2.5 or thereabouts).

Since things are working (apart from the second satellite input) I am tempted to wait, but not if that takes too long.

Force a couple daily calls.

Thanks, it just updated itself to 3.1, took about 3 days without too much prodding

Sounds like you have a DirecTiVo - just an FYI to others out there - you wont get 3.1 at all until you have a P4 card, no matter how many dial-ins you do.

What is a P4 card?

Yes, I have a DirecTivo, a Sony T-60, very nice it is too, with my new 120Gig drive ;)

Many thanks to the Tivo community, especialy the esteemed Mr Hinsdale, for ensuring a smooth upgrade.

A P4 card is an access card that is plain blue and says "ACCESS CARD: 4" on it. An HU card has a football player on it.

You need a P4 card to get 3.1.

In general, DirecTV is sending out P4s to everyone, so you'll get one eventually.
