I just purchased a TiVo off of ebay, and upon recieving it, when I plugged it up, it went to that picture of the little TiVo dude and said "Your recorder is starting up", and then it flashed a color on the screen, and then rebooted the TiVo. It kept doing this over and over.
So upon emailing the seller, I found he just took out his second drive, and that I had to redo the original drive to do everything itself. That was fine, I made that wonderful boot-cd, and did the mad/setup.sh command.
After plugging it in again, It got to a grey screen saying "just a few more moments" and then flashed the color, and rebooted again, and again, and again.
Well, after that, I then downloaded a drive image for my Philips HDR112 TiVo and then restored that to the drive in the TiVo (the original Quantam drive, 13.6GB). Still no good, same problem.
I then tried a 120GB WD hard drive, restored the image to it, and the ran the setup.sh to let the TiVo see all that new HD space. I now don't see that grey screen anymore, and it STILL flashes color for a split second and then reboots, over and over again.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any ideas, open ears on this end.

Go to the Upgrade center - the real experts are there.
Quote from the top of this Help forum
Please do not post questions or information in the Help Center about replacing hard disks, obtaining drive images, replacing modems, installing Ethernet boards, or any other hack or upgrade to the stock TiVo box. If it involves opening your TiVo, communications between your computer and your TiVo, or backdoor codes, your topic belongs in the Upgrade Center or TiVo Underground.
Also, please do not post in the Help Center seeking assistance with an upgraded or hacked TiVo if there is any reasonable possibility the problem is with the components used in the upgrade or possibly caused by the upgrade itself. For example, if you've replaced your hard disks, please do not post about drive failures here. Those topics also belong in the Upgrade Center.

I hope you gave the eBay seller a bad rating for misleading you on the sale.
