TurboN woes, Sony SVR-2000 SA

I'm having zero luck with my new TurboNET.

I have a Sony SVR-2000 (SA) with 120GB running v3.0 software. I also have a Linksys BEFSR41 4-port router.
I inserted the card, connected the CAT5 cable, powered up the Tivo, and then saw the green link LED. I then powered down, removed the HD and used Nick's install CD on my pc. I initially setup a static IP, but upon rebooting my Tivo, it never picked up the IP address. The test call failed (and I of course setup the ,#401 prefix), and I could not ping the address from my pc.

I then removed the HD again and re-ran nic_install specifying DHCP. Still the same problem when I power up the Tivo -- it just doesn't ever get an IP address. I've tried two different CAT5 cables, different ports on my router, powering down / waiting / powering up the Tivo, removing and very securely re-seating the TurboNET card. Nothing has worked. I do see the green LED on the TurboNET, and the corresponding port on my router also shows all LEDs (Link, Full-Duplex, 100Mbps). Each time I used nic_install, it never reported any errors.

I looked at the kernel log file on the TV screen, and never see any indication of an IP address. It does show the mac address and that the driver has been loaded.

I know my router is working fine because my other PCs on the LAN can reach each other and the Internet. I don't know what to try next.

Could there be a problem with my TurboNET, or is there still something else I can try?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

since you have installed the NIC software, try going to www.stevejenkins.com/tivo/newbie.htm and follow his directions. They worked perfectly for me, after I installed the NIC software.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not sure this will help in my case.
My Tivo never gets an IP address (not when I tried to assign a static ip, nor when I tried to use DHCP). I don't see how installing telnet/ftp will do any good. Or is there another part of the newbie guide that discusses troubleshooting (I didn't see this).

After installing the NIC drivers, I'm assuming you were at least able to ping your Tivo, and/or successfully complete a test call? I cannot do anything IP-related on my box.

Do I need to undo anything that was set by running nic_install turbonet?
