SAT-T60; If I am adding two drives, do I have to make a backup?

Yesterday, I went out and bought two WD 120G 7200RPM (2MB) drives for my Sony SAT-T60. When I opened the first box there was a note saying "Bonus upgrade to 8MB cashe". I thought, "WOW how lucky!" When I opened the second hard drive box it had the 2MB of cashe I had purchased.

First question, does it make a different if I add these two together, or should I try to get two of the same amount of cashe?

My second question is should I make a backup of the original drive that’s in my TiVo, if I am not placing it back into my TiVo?

Being a newbie and opening my TiVo for the first time (after the Super Bowl). I want to make sure I have all the information before I start. The next time I start a new thread, I want it to be about how easy the install went. Thanks for any comment or help you might give. And a special thanks to everyone that made this possible!!!

I can't really speak to the cache issue although I would be surprised if it made any difference in a Tivo. On the second question, Yes, you do want to make a backup image of your current drive. Sooner or later one of your two new drives will fail and you'll need the backup.

If you're keeping the drive that is currently in your Tivo as a backup there really isn't any reason to make an additional backup.
