Delete recorded shows before upgrade?

Hello. I would like to upgrade my stock HDVR2 with a new (replacement) 120 gb drive. I have read Hinsdale and have been browsing the boards. I have a bunch of shows (already recorded and not watched) on the stock 40gb drive. From Hinsdale, I understand the upgrade goes much more quickly if I do _not_ save the recorded shows, and only save the Season Passes, Wishlists, etc. My question is, should I delete the unwatched shows from my 40gb drive before doing the upgrade? Does it matter?
Thank you.

It won't save you any time as far as the upgrade goes but if you don't plan on copying the shows to the new drive the first thing you'll need to do after the upgrade is delete them from Now Playing. So you might as well delete them before the upgrade.

If you're restoring an mfstools image, then, no, it doesn't matter a bit. You won't save any space, but you will need to delete them (EDIT: like ronsch said) - blasted me not reloading before posting.

Does this mean the shows are listed on the new drive, even though the shows aren't there? What happens if you try to "play" one of them? (Just curious.)

Yes, the shows are still listed after the upgrade. If you try and play one you just get an error, but I forget exactly what it says. You can just delete them after the upgrade.
