Upgrading without the original drive?

Okay...For starters, I am new to all of this. Okay, I have 2 120GB Maxtor Drives that are identical. My TiVo is a T60. Now...the main drive is shot in my TiVo and I have been needing an excuse to do this upgrade. I have not opened the TiVo yet, so it is still under warranty. My question being can I put these two drives in without having the original drive? I keep on reading that you have to copy the original drive to make it work, but is there a file or an image that I can download from the internet so that I do not need the original drive?
Thanks,
Will

You do need the original drive, or you need to get an image of it from somewhere.

You can also use an upgrader (like ourselves). You can have us do the work - you send us your drives and we'll install the software the right way.
