Thoughts on "Miracles"

I wasn't planning on watching the debut tonight, but it was on and I did. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I am going to SP it.
What did everyone else think?

I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed after having seen all those commercials about it. It seems like to me that Skeet and the other guy (lol, sorry - don't have their names yet) are basically going to hunt down miracles to see if there are further signs of a big thing coming down the line - most likely from a very unholy source. Not to make a parallel to X-Files because it really isn't so much - but how long could this last with them hopping the world looking at supposed miracles? But I thought it was well done except the gimmicky white horrific face on black background flashes that made it seem a bit cheap. I'll give it a few more looks before I dismiss it. Stuff of this nature interests me, so I am inclined to give it as many chances as I can take. :)

I was very impressed. It was smart and creepy, and made me VERY curious as to where it's going.
I was also impressed with how ambiguous it was with the religious themes. Usually shows either avoid religion altogether, dismiss it, or wallow in sentimentality; Miracles has the guts to raise some fairly difficult theological issues without resolving them.

I thought it was cool--although I am going to try to not get too attached to it, cause I don't think it will last. :(

My wife and I liked it, and we set up a season pass. BTW, we rewound, and it definitely said NOW HERE.

My wife and I really liked it too. It seems like it has a lot of promise. But that horrible show Veritas:The Quest is before it. That may be the kiss of death for a really good show. But for now, Season pass is on.

I thought it was pretty good. When are they gonna run out of miracles to investigate?

I rellay liked it and will be giving it a season pass thus ending the CSI Miami season pass and saving myself from having to watch more of David Caruso

Darn it. I read about this show a while ago and wanted to check it out, but I was out of town this weekend and forgot to set up the recording. :(

I just saw it and was pleasantly surprised. The fact that there've only been 9 posts on this show so far would indicate to me that it may not be long until it gets canceled. But I agree with a previous poster, at least I can forget about CSI Miami -- it was really getting on my nerves.

Well, my wife and I watched it and liked it but I hadn't posted since I really didn't have much to say beyond "me too".

Since I missed the premiere, is there anything I need to know before watching episode 2 next week?

I thought it was ok. Kind of x-fileish. I tivo'd it and watched it in my office. (Benefits of having cable in the office). It has potential if the writers are any good. We'll see what happens I guess.

Not really. Though it was a good set up episode. Basically Skeet Ulrich's character had become a skeptic to whethere there really is a God. But in the first episode he met a kid who really had the ability to heal people. He also found something out there which isn't good at all. He gets in a car wreck which is going to be fatal, but the young kid heals him at the cost of his own life.
Skeet's character saw, in his own blood before he was saved:
God is now here
At the end of the episode he joined a really mysterious (evil I think) organization who is preparing for something big. Everyone they have contacted has seen this message written in blood.
GOD is nowhere
It was a great beginning. Hopefully you can catch the rerun.

Thanks, whitson77. Sounds cool. I look forward to picking up with episode 2. :)

Someone help me with something here. When Ulrich's character is in the wreck, he first sees the kid come up to him then he sees someone kneeling behind the kid looking at him. Then, there is a flash, we get a few frames of a frankenstein's monster looking thing, then it stards over with the kid coming up again.
Was the person kneeling and looking at him the same guy who came up to him at the end and introduced the other organization? I went through it frame by frame and couldn't be sure, but it kinda looked like him. Anyone else catch it?
Posted by: whitson77
Yeah it was that guy. Granted he looked like a vampire, but it was most certainly Angus McFadden. The guy that leads that organization.

My wife and I both thought it was VERY good. Even though it seems centered on religion, and we are not religous, we still really enjoyed it. I was wondering if people who were religous also liked it, or were in any way offended by any of it?
Stew
PS. Whitson, you may want to put spoilers on your description.

I thought about that. Here's a newbie question. How do you do it? Sorry Stew and and those who got more than they bargained for.
My wife and I are religious and we both liked it. While we may disagree with certain points and statements we understand that not everybody sees the world like we do. For example, the show goes with the myth that good works earn your way to heaven. Something that my wife and I don't believe. But that isn't a big deal, but the story elements were really interesting. If things went too far off like God is evil, or Christ liked to eat people, or something like that...We would probably find a different show:)

Whitson,
Posting Spoilers
The [spoiler] tag allows you to place text in your message that is unreadable, unless someone highlites it. This makes viewing the text a deliberate effort. This is for posting messages about movies or other things where you might not wish to give away plot points to those that haven't seen it yet.
Example:
(spoiler)This is the information you do not want to give to people who do not care to read it.(/spoiler)
Replace the parentheses with brackets
( ) = [ ]

Thanks Stew. I did know what a spoiler was. I just didn't know to do this:
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
testing 1 2, testing 1,2.
Ha ha, I got it by George.

LOL. I figured you knew what it was and didn't even read what I had in the post. I just cut and pasted from the help area. Hope I didn't insult you and glad I was of assistance.

I just watched it and really liked even if it was a little predictable. I am quite sure Already Been Canceled won't keep it around for very long.
