Angel "Awakening" (Spoilers)

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Rob Helmerichs

OK, that may be the first time that "it was all a dream" actually worked!

I accidentally stumbled across a spoiler [about future developments] that has totally changed the way I look at this season. Be warned: you DO NOT want to read this.

Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
OK, I'm taking their advice and removing it. You just couldn't resist, could you? :D Don't worry, if you want to know that badly, you can find it for yourself...after all, I found it be accident, and somebody later on gives a great big clue how to find it.

Edited to strengthen warning

Damn you, MG! I'm paralyzed!

read it, don't read it....

Posted by: Greg G

Argh!!! I read it by mistake. I assumed by spoilers you meant about tonights episode and didn't read closely enough.

DON'T READ IT!!! DON'T READ IT!!! DON'T READ IT!!! DON'T READ IT!!!

(hope it's not too late for anyone else.... snif)

H'mm. Totally unexpected. Very intriguing. Pure Joss.

DON'T LET LORI READ IT!!

Edited to add: Now that I've had a minute to think about it, I suggest very strongly that you edit the spoiler out COMPLETELY. Big-time Angel fans are going to hate you for posting that.

Bless you greg and gray for falling on that grenade. I can safely live in ignorance.

this episode rocked! I was fooled, so much so that I was waiting for Cordie to split open and reveal, I dunno, the Bigger bad during the 'perfect happiness.' simple one episode spoiler:
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
When did orgasm become perfect happiness? I mean, it's a nice moment and all, but...well, TMI I guess.

Posted by: Graymalkin

It's perfect happiness...
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
when it happens with your one true love. Or your second true love, as the case may be. OTOH, he did say, "Buffy!" didn't he? H'mm. Conflicted!
:D

I knew what was up when Gunn and Wesley shook hands. :)

Posted by: JYoung

Woah!!!!!
I have to admit that I didn't see that coming even though I thought Conner came around too easily.

Damn, this is really setting up things nicely.....

Posted by: aadam101

OH NO!! WHY DID I READ IT!!

Posted by: Mr. Belboz

If your the type that likes lots of spoilers for future shows you can go to http://www.tvtome.com and look at almost every show out there.

I recommend going to the Episode Listings section of a particular program. You can see all the episodes, their air date. Click on them and you can see a description. You just need to be careful since many shows (like Angel) have spoilers for future shows that haven't aired yet.

It is better than many spoiler sites since you can look at spoilers on an episode by episode basis.

Thanks to all who have posted their regrets at having read MG's spoiler. I avoid spoilers anyway, but occasionally it's difficult. This time it's easy.

BTW, if any of my following speculation happens to be correct and some of you spoiler-whores ;) know it, don't tell the rest of us.

And wow! I thought it was kind of a lame episode, because everything came together just a little too nicely, and Cordy's little vision about "I know what and where the sword is" was a bit hard to swallow, and suddenly what we thought was the Big Bad is defeated, etc. But then it looks like there's gonna be that true moment of happiness, even though I didn't really buy the romance angle, and for a second there I thought that Angelus was going to be the Big Bad for the rest of the season, but then it was all a dream, but then Angelus is back! Holy crap, my head was spinning, and for that matter still is.

But now why did they leave the Shaman in there with Angel? As soon as he's evil, he's gonna break out of the restraints and kill the Shaman so his soul won't be restored. Then they'll have to get Willow to do the Spell of Restoration again or something. Seems to me the Shaman could have reached through the bars to touch Angel's forehead. And that steel table is going to make a nice battering ram against the cage locks.

Posted by: Rob Helmerichs

Well, the Unsouling process just happened...the shaman hasn't had time to leave the cage, and Angelus IS still tied up. He escaped so easily in the dream because, well, it was a dream. (I wondered about that fleetingly when it happened, but not enough to make me catch on.) By the way, nothing in the dream sequence conflicted with the SuperSpoiler th you don't want to read.)

As for the orgasm, apparently, just dreaming about one counts as a Moment Of Perfect Happiness!

I must admit, I was watching the episode, thinking "things are working out *way* too easily. If they do this, they'll have nothing left to do this season... And then the hell is Angelus coming back? I know he makes an appearance this season."

And then they pulled the JR, and it made a lot more sense.

Ah, yes, so now I can live with the dream sequence. The way the Shaman pulled out his soul was to make him completely believe this dream, building up to a moment of perfect happiness! OK. I thought it was some split second unintended revelation on what Angelus knew thrown into Angel's mind. But as a method for extracting the soul, I can completely accept!!

I'm still trying to remember some of the other hilarious lines, but I enjoyed Cordy's line (from the "bell maze"): "I knew you two were going to get me in trouble one day!"

Regarding that...
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)
Coincidentally, Willow (Alyson Hannigan) *is* slated to appear on an upcoming episode of "Angel."

I don't think that it's just the orgasm, after all he didn't lose his soul when he did the deed with Darla. I think that the key is that it has to be with someone Angel loves truly and deeply which is why it happened with Buffy....

Posted by: Chris Roberts

I kept thinking "this episode is lame" because of all characters reconciling in the same episode and the cheesy Star Trek style of writing for Cordy's instant sword vision. Had it not been a dream I don't think I was going to watch another episode. But since it was the episode was very impressive.
I still wonder why the shaman stayed in the cage with Angel/Angelus. Seemed like Angel would have been against that since he knows Angelus would kill the guy. They must know something we don't about the shaman.

I SPECIFICALLY asked that you NOT confirm any of my speculation! What the hell is so hard to understand about that request?

PLEASE go back and spoiler-tag your text, PRT940.

I couldn't disagree more. Of course I knew something was still going to happen as we didn't find the Angelus tie in yet but the end was awesome. One of the better episodes imho. To mostly resolve the issues with Cordy, Conner, Wesley, and the Beast only to have it be an illusion. Well the only one that came out of this better is Wesley without having a mauled hand. That is if they all survive this :)

And I am NOT reading that spoiler. I just hope we don't have some newbie come in and quote it in a reply.

Posted by: Rob Helmerichs

Oh, go ahead, read the spoiler...you won't be sorry! Not any more...

Posted by: TiVoLance

noooo I refuse to repeat my mistake last year on Buffy season 7 :)

Posted by: TiVaholic

Don't worry, the spoiler is safe, he changed it...what mistake was that you made last year, Lance? Or has it been revealed yet?

Posted by: TiVoLance

Last year I read the spoiler sites and

tagged for new to season 6 fans
Spoiler Alert! (highlight to read)

Willow going evil wasn't a suprise and by the time of the last episode I read scene for scene what would happen. Giles coming back to stop her, Warren being skinned. It just took all the fun out of the show. So I promised myself no more SPOILERS ;)

Posted by: sschwart

Come on... you know you wanna read it... Everyone else is reading it ;)

(except me)

Posted by: DanT

That was a Season 6 spoiler, Lance.

Posted by: KLB

I'm not going to read the spoiler... I always regret it.

Thought this one was a great episode. Totally set you up that this was the end of the Beast storyline and all that... dang nice twist at the end.

It was interesting to see the things that Angel needed with the other characters other then Cordi to make him happy.

Things are going to get interesting I think.

Posted by: Fleegle

I've decided that I'm avoiding all spoilers for this show and Buffy from this point forward. All the spoilers I've seen fo far for Angel ended with last week's episode. The only bit I know from this point forward is that Faith shows up on both shows toward the end of the season.

I think it makes the show a bit more fun this way.

Posted by: TiVaholic

fleegle, that is a minor spoiler for some (I knew, but for anyone that doesnt' it's a spoiler.) Can you put a tag on that?

Posted by: Rob Helmerichs

That's not a spoiler. That's widely reported news.

If the producers of the show thought it would spoil anything, they wouldn't have released the news. Over and over and over and over. As if they were trying to generate ratings by publicizing Faith's return.

The only reason somebody would want to conceal that news is if they wanted the ratings to drop.

Hmmm...does TiVaholic work for Fox? :D

Posted by: TiVaholic

They did publicize that? My mistake. I can't remember where I first heard it. I've started watching Angel now just because of that, so I didn't miss it. I've seen a few episodes before, but haven't really watched every episode in order, ect...It's not as fast moving as Buffy, which kind of turns me off. This beast plotline seems interesting, though. But for this being my first "religious" episode, it was mean!!!

Posted by: Rob Helmerichs

Buffy is more bang bang bang; Angel has developed into more of a cumulative thing; the impact just keeps growing and growing. Kind of a Big Bang...

Aren't the ones you dream about more likely to be a Moment of Perfect Happiness than the ones you have for real? Makes sense to me.

:p
