Re-expanding

I read in the MFSTools doc that you can add a second drive after you have already expanded the first. Could someone let me know how.

I have a single 120GB drive currently and want to add a second drive while keeping existing recordings.

Is it is simple as running the mfsadd? again or are there other steps.

Thanks for the help

It's been a long time since I did it, but if memory serves, you just need to 'bless' the second drive.

Actually, "blessing" will only work on an UN-expanded A drive. mfsadd is the right answer.

Did you add swap when you expanded to 120?

After further review....it seems that you cannot 'bless' an expanded A drive. But some say it is as easy as using mfsadd. If anyone has complete instructions, please post them :)

I did iincrease the swap to 127, so do I just hook up both drives and do the mfsadd per hinsdale's instructions?

Thanks for the quick help

Is this the answer?? Connect 'already expanded' A drive as secondary master. Connect 'new' B drive as secondary slave. At the Linux # type in:
mfstool mfsadd /dev/hdc /dev/hdd -x Is that it?? Or does one need to add new partitions??

Yes, that's it.

Yes, the exact command should be:

mfsadd -x /dev/hdc /dev/hdd

ok, so if I have my original 40gb HD in my TiVo and want to add a new 120 GB HD, all I have to do is Bless the HD and it will work?

Yes, Krstofer. If it's unmodded, all you have to do is Bless.
