Great link. Thanks! :)

Charlie Lawrence with Nathan Lane and Ted McGinley? Jumping the shark before the show even premieres...

They don't list it, isn't SFU due back in March?

I think they are only listing new (or revamped, in the case of Watching Ellie) shows.

I can't wait for SFU. The HBO site says it returns on March 2. :)

They are only listing the 6 broadcast networks also.

Wow, with the exception of a couple of shows on NBC and a couple on FOX I have never seen such a plethora of crap.

Oh my God, NBC bringing back Watching Ellie almost deserves another thread. What do you want to bet they are just burning off the episodes they had left from when it first aired?

There is a link for Cable series just below the links for the 6 broadcast networks. :)

Does not look too good IMO.

9 times out of 10, "mid-season replacement" is just a euphemism for "crap we had leftover from the fall." ;)

So what mid-season replacements HAVE been successful?

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the only one I know of for certain.

Well, do you count shows like The A-Team, The Wonders Years and Homicide:Life on the Streets? All premiered after the Super Bowl and enjoyed long runs.

In answer to the question of what mid season replacements have been successful over the past few years, I can come up with a couple. The only one I could really come up with offhand from last year is the George Lopez Show, although there has to have been at least one or two more? (Anyone?) Over the past couple years Malcolm in the Middle, 3rd Rock From the Sun, Dawson’s Creek, and Just Shoot Me all seem like at least moderate hits born out of midseason replacement status.

A quick check informed be that farther back in history All in the Family (’71), Dallas (’79), Dynasty (’81) and Twin Peaks (’90) were all midseason replacements. (Just for the record I looked those up or knew them from wherever, those shows all pre-date my formative television years.)

I also really want to say that the Simpsons was a midseason replacement or at least didn’t start when most shows did, although the start of the Simpsons puts me in elementary school, so I could very well be wrong.

Of this year’s crop I’m really hoping for good things from Wanda at Large (I just find Wanda Sykes hilarious) and Kingpin. I don’t know if I’d call it a midseason replacement since its not really replacing anything, but Out of Order will get a look from me just for having Felicity Huffman prominently placed in the cast.

Nope, you're correct. "The Simpsons" was originally supposed to premiere in the fall of 1989, but the animation wasn't ready yet, so it didn't show up until December (the original Christmas episode, "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire," was the first episode aired). Therefore, it counts as a midseason replacement.

Wasn't Malcolm in the Middle a mid-season show?

Always appreciate the haeds up, grecorj.

I'm only interested in Survivor, the only sure-fire hit (just in another incarnation).

Posted by: stormsweeper

"Northern Exposure" was a midseason replacement.

Posted by: DanT

I found an article that says "The Practice" was a mid-season replacement, too.

So I guess quite a few have been successful over the years.
