-- I really hate “Save to VCR” (http://archive.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?threadid=181814)
gsslug you are correct. There is the risk that the software will change channels on your box and your hoped for capture is messed up. This is why I really find live recording the more useful option for stuff I know in advance I want to keep long term on DVD-R. This is the only way I know of to avoid "Save to VCR" and even then its not foolproof. You are still at risk if you forget that the DVD recorder is capturing and pause a show or surf to another channel for a bit. The DVD recorder is going to capture all that stuff.
Bottom line is you must use "Save to VCR" to be sure the DVD recorder copy is what you really want. There is no workaround for this.
