Had the same problem here. I just kept forcing it to make a connection every 15 minutes or so.
It's made even more difficult when you have multiple TiVos and you want them to be multi room view enabled and see one another. Once I had them configured correctly online, I just kept connecting BOTH units until they were sync'd up.
Good thing is they are on the network and the "calls" are much faster and don't need a phone.
