HELP: Getting everything running

Once I finaaly get everything up and running on my HDR31202 with Serial and a Bash prompt, what do I do then?

I still want to connect over the internal modem, and I want TiVoWeb. How is the best way to go about installing this?

Also, are there any other must haves? I was looking at:
TiVoForum themes
Now Playing extension
DisplayText extension
SpaceUsed extension

and newtext2osd. Any tips on these?

That's 3/4's of the battle

I'd say your on step 3 or 4 depending if you've unpacked things
.
From the Tivoweb readme:

QUICK START INSTALLATION
1. Transfer the archive to your tivo
The best way to get the files to the tivo successfully is to just transfer the
.tar.gz archive via ftp (binary mode), rsync or get it directly onto the tivo
with this command (from a tivo shell): 'http_get -T 0 -C 0 -D /var/hack -U
http://199.240.141.102:80/tivoweb-tcl-1.9.4.tar.gz'.

2. Move the archive to the appropriate directory
Put the archive in the directory where you want tivoweb-tcl, ie if you want
all the files in '/var/hack/tivoweb-tcl' put the archive in '/var/hack' and it
will unpack into the 'tivoweb-tcl' directory.

3. Unpack the archive
If you have an older version of tivoweb, you should make sure it is shutdown
first, then delete it with 'rm -rf tivoweb-tcl' or move it somewhere else.
Then decompress with 'gzip -d tivoweb-tcl-1.9.4.tar.gz' and unpack with
'cpio -H tar -i < tivoweb-tcl-1.9.4.tar'. Do not use winzip.

4. Startup
Run "/var/hack/tivoweb-tcl/tivoweb console". There will be a few messages,
and it will need to load some data. After it prints "Accepting Connections"
it is ready to go. Just point your browser at the tivo. The main tivoweb
stuff is under "User Interface."

First, I assume that I can just send the files over the serial, right?

Second Step: Use cd var then mkdir Hack

Third step: Those utils are already on there, right? I then I can rm the original file?

4: What address do I go to since it's on serial?

Also, don't I need to modify some system files? Also, where do the extensions for TW go?
Finally, does it have everything else? I saw that it didn't have ls (essential for someone who doesn't use UNIX everyday) and some other things. If I get those and install them in var/hack, then can I run them the normal way or do I have to include the path?

I did mine over a CacheCard but I think I can answer these.

Yes you can send the files over serial, ZMODEM is the way I believe.

From Step two on, you need to be logged in to your Tivo, I am under the impression that the Tivo has no address when you use Serial. If Serial Bash Access is setup, just plug the null modem cable into your computer and Tivo, Fire up your favorite terminal program, select the COM port you used and it should automatically connect.

All the utils referenced in the README should be already installed.

To make it autostart each time, you do need to modify some system files. I believe rc.sysinit.author but hopefully someone else will chime in here

How does that work? Would doing it on a terminal program work? Would it just pop it up in a browser?

What you need to do is set up persistant (or always on) serial PPP.
That way, you use tlelet as a console, FTP to move files to and fro, and can use Tivoweb.

Why do you keep rewinding that? Because with TiVo, I can.

So how do I do that?
