HELP! I am not w/Pegasux, but I'm in NRTC

I used to be w/D* for 3+ years, then moved to an NRTC area for the last 2 years. I am interested in purchasing a D*reciever w/TiVo, but can't get any satellite provider to sell me one, saying I have to go through the Co-Op to buy one. But... they can't answer any of my questions, because they don't know what's going on.

Are only Pegasux customers affected by this shakeup, should I wait until next month, or what?? I really want to by a combo unit ASAP...but from where? Will CC let me buy one?, their ad says that certain NRTC's may not support.

I am also in an NRTC (non-Pegasus) region. My NRTC provider would have sold me a 40GB DirecTiVo for $100 plus $5/month "maintenance fee" for the next 2 years. I tried Ultimate Electronics (used to be Audio King) as they had a Hughes for a great price. They asked for my zip code which I naively gave and then they balked as I am in an NRTC region. I went across the street to Best Buy, bought an open box RCA DVR40 for $90, and activated it that evening.

Try Best Buy - it worked for me.
