Talking Confirmation on the $5 DTV mirror charge covering 2nd tivo service?

I've searched back through the posts, and apparently it was confirmed that the $5 directv charge to mirror programming also covers mirroring the tivo service to a 2nd tivo receiver. I just wanted to do a sanity check to find out

1.) Is this working out for everyone?
2.) Did anyone ever receive anything in writing from DirecTV as too that this was an "official" policy and as to how long it will continue?

As always, thanks in advance for your responses. This forum is very helpful.

1) it is working for me. I had to keep asking to go up levels in Customer service to do it.
2) I never seen anything in writing.

Thumbs down

. . . even though nothing in writing, there has been castising for (justifiably) worrying about it.

wait wait wait wait wait...let me get this straight...

does this mean that if I go out and get a second unit to replace my fried first one while it gets fixed, I will only have to pay an extra $5/month to DTV (and not the $100 per year or $10 per month for the first unit??)

That wouldn't be all bad. If I get a dual-LNB dish that could be a short term answer to the dual tuner delay as well no? Double the recording space would be pretty sweet as well.

Any thoughts on the Sony vs the Philips- maybe the Hughes? I wish the next generation units were out if I am already going to buy a new one.

that would be kewl.

Yep, you've got it. That's one of the reasons I run two DirecTV/TiVos. Dual tuners wouldn't eliminate my need for double the space.

As far as next generation units, the current generation is only four months old!

I have 3 Sony T60 DirectTivos.

Had no problem adding second and third units....they all show "5: Lifetime" for subscription. Just pay the $4.99@month for each additional.
Never received anything in writing from DirectTV though. It would be nice to get something in writing so we all understand what "lifetime" meant....but that is a different thread

I just activated my third D-TIVO a few minutes ago. I had to
speak to two rude jerks at Direct TV before I was able to get
to a D-TIVO specialist. The first one in particular didn't
want to transfer me cause she said "there is no such thing
as a D-TIVO specialist. I can activate you". Then she
tried to charge me for service on the 3rd box at which
point I had to ask for a supervisor to get me to a
specialist.

Just insist on a D-TIVO specialist
if you want the free mirroring.

FWIW- I added my new Sony T-60 without a hitch. I spoke to the regular DirecTv customer service (a pleasure as always....NOT) and they added it for the $4.99 extra per month.

I added a second DirecTivo a few weeks back and had no problem with DirecTV. I was replacing a SA DirecTV box with the DirecTivo and she knew exactly what to do. She said my payment wouldn't change since I was replacing the SA box with the DirecTivo -- I hadn't even asked for a Tivo Specialist. My "lifetime" subscription showed up in System Information within a day or two.
