Late last week, my TiVo picked up a "Teleworld Paid Programming" (I Have it setup as a season pass to see them). This is the program of video clips that the units place in the yellow star advertisements, showcases, etc.

Anyway, TiVo is going to offer a 30 day free tree trial of HMO in August (I believe starting August 4th?). That's right, they said free. They're just going to enable it and allow anyone to try it out for 30 days.

They are also going to offer HMO for $59 (for the first unit) during the same period, with a credit card rebate later on...just like they did with the special broadband user promo.

This evening I received an e-mail about the new promotion and it was on Tivo Central also--free 30 day trial without paying anything in advance, and if you like it, it's $59 at the end of the 30 days, or a $40 rebate from the regular $99 price. A great deal all around to those of us who've waited for it, and I signed up by clicking on "yes" and selecting it.

Great! I missed the first chance at the $40 rebate because I was one day late getting my broadband up and running and I missed the second chance at the $40 rebate because I signed up a few days too early. Aren't I just the luckiest thing?

I would call TiVo and plead your case. With all these rebates, plus the fact that you are within your 30 day trial period, I'm sure they would be willing to make sure you get the rebate, too. If I remember, someone a couple weeks ago said TiVo did this for them under similar circumstances.

I tried pleading my case after missing the first rebate. They wouldn't budge. I guess I just don't plead very well, therefore I get to pay extra. It's the Bad Pleader Tax! :-)

Can't you still return HMO and reorder it?
I haven't seen the new promo yet, so I don't know if it's restricted to first time HMO users or something like that.

Even if it is, I'd try pleading my case with TiVoOpsMgr, if I were you.

Yep, this is what I did. i was shot down by the first rep I talked to, and then a week later, I thought, "Forget this, I'm getting screwed".

I called up again and asked to "return" the HMO. They asked why, and I told them. They transferred me and the next person I talked to said that they would be able to get me the rebate and that they knew that some people would "fall through the cracks", but that they would take care of them.

Of course, I have yet to see the credit on my account But i have a case #, so I think Ill get it.

Call them back up!

Tom
