Recorded picture freeze

Hi all..
I've been having the following issue now for around 3 weeks and would like your help in tracking down a solution..

I've had TIVO now for almost two years. I've upgraded to a Maxtor 120gb drive around 12 months ago with no issues.
Sometimes (no patten detected yet, but have noticed channel 4 and sky1 seem to be the worst culprit.. always on my programs as well) the recoded program just freezes.. Sound still continues but the image is frozen. There is no way of correcting this for a recorded program but if it happens during a live show, then by changing channels this seems to cure the problem.

Is this a HD problem or a TIVO problem? any help would be appreciated.

Roy

It seems another member called WebAgents has had the same issue but having read that thread (after posting mine - sorry) it seems there hasn't been any suggestions on whats causing the issue..

Be glad to see some inputs from other members on this problem..
Thanks
Roy

Next time it happens - use AUX bypass to see if its TiVo freezing or the set-top-box.

Question

I have sufferred with freezing pictures and it is happening quite often. However mine only occurs on ITV either during a grand prix or the rallying. I can understand the Tivo getting bored with some of the F1 races but not the rallying.

The only way to cure the problem is to change channel and then go back. I will test the AUX out next time it happens but any other help will be appreciated.

Does it freeze at random places, or is it just before or after the adverts?

hi all.
I did the AUX test and it was frozen also, so can I assume that this is the digibox that is causing this issue?
I take it by pressing AUX you bypass TIVO altogether?

Any other instructions most welcome..

Maybe my hdd is not on the way out then!

I'll watch out for this happening again and try the aux source to check.

I think it normally freezes during the adverts, it certainly did on Sunday about an hour or so into the Grand Prix.

Aux bypass shows you what's happening on the source directly, with no processing by the TiVo at all.

If that's frozen, then it's your STB at fault.

It's been reported a number of times that STBs can fall over at ad breaks - there are various control codes sent then, to turn red dots off for instance - and sometimes it crashes the box. Some models of STB seem more vunerable to it than others.
