PJO1966 -

Not to worry - the "Tivo" style grid is still there...

Aaron

PS - Guys - we'll also have some MPEG4 video clips of the unit in action later as well!!!

GreyGhost -

I'm in the second group shot all the way on the right (with the beard)....

DAMN! The extra 10lbs I gained (probably eating too many White Castles) sure is evident in a photograph! (this after loosing 25lbs!)

Well, that was....boring. The White Castles got me more excited, until I remembered that I can only get the frozen kind.

Kind of sad that they didn't take the opportunity to make a super-spiffy HD interface.

Oh well, at least it appears eminently functional, which is all that really matters, I suppose.

I think it looks stunning.

Most other HD DVRs (from cable, Dish) on the market just took a SD DVR and added HD support without much consideration to the aesthetics. They don't even have widescreen guides or widescreen graphics! Compared to those, the HDTV Tivo is a visual marvel.

In that case, did it seem like either whites or blacks were getting clipped/crushed?

I mean per the supposed "bug" being reported elsewhere about the HDMI to DVI conversion...

Any comments on the speed? Noticeably faster? Slower? Same as Series 2 DirecTiVos? Inquiring minds want to know.

That just goes to show you that DirecTV likes to put the screws to its retailers. They gave it to him. He should be able to do what he wants with it. Although, I do understand why he abides with DirecTV.

Egads, I'm sitting here watching the White Sox game here in HD. I have to go to the bathroom between innings. I can't do my own replays. When my wife interrupts me I can't hit pause. And you're upset that the menus aren't SPIFFY!

Question, not sure where it belongs...

Which is more beneficial, recording SD content from locals provided by DirecTV, or from an OTA digital channel?

I'd assume one consumes less space...which one would be more efficient?

This popped in my mind a few weeks ago, but seeing the grid with channels 2, 2-1, etc reminded me...
