New To TiVo - Question

I have both Cable TV and a dish. I went ahead and checked the rear of the TiVo out at my local Best Buy and noticed it has RCA-In and Out jacks in the back. It also has a Coax-In and Out.

My question is this...

I have a dish receiver. Could I take the RCA-Out from the receiver and hook it to the RCA-In of the TiVo and then from the RCA-Out from the TiVo to my TV. Then, in turn, hook my cable TV to the Coax-In of the TiVo and then take coax from the TiVo's Coax-Out and hook that to my TV.

If that is all possible, how does recording work. Is it possible for me to select which "input" to record from? Like, if there is a show on my dish that I want to record, can I select to record from the RCA jacks and if there is a show on my cable, can I select coax?

The last question is, how does TiVo work in this situation with the "TV Guide" feature. Does it pull down both the dish listing and the cable listing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Yes, yes, and yes. The only thing is, you don't need both the coax and RCA out to the TV. You only need a single input into the TV.

In the setup, you will see a selection for dual satellite and cable input. Select that and then tell the Tivo which cable and satellite services you have. It will get both listings and let you select channels to record from either. The Tivo will decide which input to use to record depending on the channel.
