I was planning on program the "go to end of program" button into a 30 sec skip button

BUT - I realized that I already use the "go to end of program" button as a different code - if you are in a FF mode and hit the "go to end of program" button you advance by 15 minute segments (or reverse by 15 minute segments) (actually, to be more precise, you advance to the next quarter hour, e.g. fifteen past, half past, etc.)

I find the 15 minute skip mode really useful and am having second thoughts on programming it to do the 30 sec skip.

Does anyone know if programming the 30 sec skip "undoes" the ability to do the 15 minute skips when in FF mode?

With the 3.0 software, you can have the best of both worlds.

If you have a DirecTivo, you're out of luck for now.

TrinaLC: Because the 30sec code, in 2.5, disabled the skip to tick functionality. In 3.0 that was changed so that skip to tick still works even with 30sec turned on.

DirecTivos do not have 3.0 yet.

are they planning on putting out 3.0 for directivo or is that another one of the great unknowns?

I'm sure some 3.x release will get to the directivos, but from all accounts the testing directv requires is an iron-clad bitch. They might be planning to skip 3.0 and go with whatever version ships with the series 2 directivo we'll be seeing by 4th quarter. PV
