More Noob questions on upgrade

Hopefull my last one's

What I would like to do is this.

1. Get hold a sample backup for a Hughes DirectTivo image (I think I have one from Hinsdale's drive I bought

2. Take a new drive, install the backup, etc.

3. Remove the drive from my existing TIVO, try out the new drive.

4. If it works then use the drive to make a backup.

Why would I want to do this. Mainly because I want to "practice" the upgrade without screwing up anything that I already have. I want to see what issues I encounter and what I don't understand etc. about the whole process.

Does this make sense and will there be any gotcha's to this idea ?

Thanks

T

You won't have any problems doing that.
