RCA Dvr10 - HDTV Pvr

http://www.rca.com/content/viewdeta...-CI258,00.html?

Not much more info than this:

"The RCA DVR10 digital-to-digital HDTV recorder features a built-in 80GB hard disc drive that offers up to 40 hours of standard-definition digital programming or nine hours of high-definition recording. With the DVR10, favorite HDTV programs are available at the touch of a button."

Things are heating up, as another manufacturer competes with TiVo and jumps into the HDTV PVR market.

* If I can find more news on this model, I will post it.

Update: Here a bit more:

Good find. It has a retail price of $450 and has firewire input. If a larger hard drive can be added, this might be a pretty good product. Don't have a clue if it will communicate well with firewire STBs on the market, I didn't read the entire article, but if so things are getting lot better.

And $450 is targeted right in the middle of my price range. Nine hours of HD content. yep I can live with that.

Let's hope they and everyone else avoids the "Sidecar" Hard Drive capacity approach Motorola is using with their new STB\PVR. Though, admittedly, that's one way to gain more revenue from a PVR product - trying to force customers to use their branded capacity upgrade.

Keep in mind the RCA HDTV PVR isn't a standalone product. It still requires another HDTV set-top box with Firewire or a HDTV television with built-in STB and Firewire.
