Good tool for testing hard drive for lockup/stutter...

I found a good tool for testing a hard drive.

Diskspeed32

What this tool does it test the thoughput from each and every block on the hard drive and present it in a graph format.

I had a hard drive (WD 160gb) that would work fine in a PC. I ran every test (dos based and windows based) I could find and it always reported good. I would put it in my TIVO and it would work for a while then start the lockup/stutter. I would take it out of the TIVO and test it and "Doz" would say it is good. Re-image and put it back in TIVO and after awhile it would fail again... I ran the above test and lo and behold right in the middle of the hard drive the transfer speed would plummit to almost (not quite hince it worked with "doz") nil...

Gonna send the drive off to WD for warrenty now....

Nice job sir! This is perennial problem with TiVo drives so it's good to see a diagnostic which catches this behaviour.
