DTivo + Airnet = insufficient power!?

Finally got everything I needed to put a wireless card in my philips directivo (single drive). I did it, I turn it on, and the powersupply just sits and clicks at me.

I unplug it, take the airnet card off, plug it back in and it's fine.

Airnet card back on, power back on, more clicks.

For all the possible risks I read about, this did not appear to be one of them.

Hell.

Is there anything I can do, or did I just shell out >$100 for nothing?

Hrrrmmm.. ok. A couple more tries and it booted.

Wary am I, but happy.

Happyness, however, is blunted, by the tivo's lack of presence on the network. Took the drive back out, checked the logs, and it shows the device starting up... But I couldn't ping it or telnet to it, AND, it didn't show up in the AP logs.

Sigh.

Hi,

Are you using a PCMCIA card or a CardBus card? (The tivo does not support CardBus).

This thread here show how you can tell the difference:

pcmcia prism 2.5 (d-link dwl-650)

I threw the drive back into the nic to run in debug mode, and it worked, so either non-debug mode drivers weren't working, or something. I'll dig more later.

Which, will probably wait until the tivo-bin site is back up (or I find a mirror) so I can do this on the tivo without the shell being quite so painful.
