you may remember me I bought a SD-H400 and was dissapointed to find that 30sec skip (although an unsupported feature) was non fucntional, on the Toshiba.
oh well!

I am now considering buying an additional unit the pioneer dvr810hs
before i buy it can you tell me if 30 sec skip is functional on the dvr810hs.

The 30 sec skip is an extremely popular feature, for many many good reasons.

I can actually watch football now. I've always enjoyed it, but never really watched it since it stretches on forever and the commentators are suce imbiciles. With 30ss, as one play is whistled dead, skip ahead 30s and the next play is just starting. Beautiful! When they're in a no-huddle offense, use 8sec-rewind then 30sec skip.

I actually watch about four games each weekend now, in a total of under four hours.

Four TiVos now, all with single Samsung drives:
Humax DRT800 w/DVD-R (174hrs)
Two older Series 2's (142hrs and 157hrs),and a newer nightlight
Series 2, a stupid case design IMO (174hrs)
All but the last are lifetimed. TiVite since 2000. There is a Good IR solution.

I take the lack of responce to my 30 sec skip question as a bad sign

Tivopony and those in the know refuse to answer because they dont want to hurt sales of this unit.

they already let it be known that recordings transfered via HMO to this unit cant berecorded to dvd.. which was a big negative.

prove me wrong and let me know before I buy the unit.. is 30 sec skip code available for pioneer dvr810. I already got scr*ewed on the toshiba sd400

I didn't know that. Using HMO to transfer shows for burning was one of the main reasons that I was considering the Pioneer.

no it wont let you burn programs to DVD that were transferred VIA HMO
because its they are encoded differently then other tivo's in order to create fast DVD's without the need for bitrate and format conversion
see this thread.

Can you use the 8 second rewind and 30 second skip when watching DVD's?

And does it matter if you are watching a burned DVD or a commercial DVD for the TiVo trick funtions to work?

8 sec back works for dvd
30 sec skip does not work for DVD's

both 8 and 30 sec skip work for Hard Drive recordings
